continued....HOW DOES ONE ORDER A PIECE? That would start with a call or a visit to the shop. The stock room of raw material has wonderful pieces in it, that is sure to confuse anyone looking for that special piece. BUT we can direct you in a way to help you create that special piece for your home. We will not copy any other artists work, but if you have a picture of something you have seen, or a drawing of what you are looking for, we can try to use that idea and your needs with the wood and antlers on hand to make a personalized piece that is truly yours. Once the idea has been drawn up to your satisfaction, the article will be started once a non-refundable deposit has been made, and the finished piece is shipped upon completion and final payment. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A CUSTOM ORDER? That depends on a lot of variables that are generally pretty easy to deal with - how much wood to chose from is on hand, the time it takes to decide on a style, and the orders that may be ahead of yours. The quickest start to finish time frame is generally 3-4 weeks, but we would advise you well in advance if there was to be any delays for whatever reasons. HOW IS THE FURNITURE MADE/CREATED? This is not a manufacturing centre or factory, each piece is made one at a time by myself. No big lathes or belt sanders are used and there is not the tinkertoy finish or look that you see in some markets. All holes are hand drilled and fitted, palm sanders and hand sanding do the finishing, and will from time to time exhibit the hand work with the odd little scratch and not so flush joints, but it will all standup to your needs and demands. The influence behind the construction of these pieces is to create something that combines the reflection of the past with the needs of today, and be something that you are proud of. WHERE DOES THE WOOD COME FROM? The wood comes from my own acreage and other woodlots, where I take non-commercial trees (because they are twisted, curved, bent, hollow, or standing dead). These trees have little use in any conventional sense and the thinning helps the rest of the woodlot, so every-one wins. The antlers used are all natural drops.
